Larp & Monty's Metamorphies is a little text-based adventure about two door guards who find themselves in a bit of a pickle.

It was submitted to inkJam 2023, a 72hr game jam centered on storytelling and narrative games made with Ink. I happened to be reading Kafka's The Metamorphosis when the jam's theme ('In the blink of an eye') was revealed. Following a sudden, mysterious transformation, Kafka's Gregor Samsa considers how he might get out of bed, and how he might explain his being late for work to his manager, rather than panicking about the broader implications of his new body. It reads like a dream, where the expected horror of the transformation is notably absent. I decided to run with that, and Metamorphies somehow morphed into a little story about... friendship.

~ UPDATE! ~

The jam votes have been finalised! Larp & Monty's Metamorphies was voted #1 in Narrative, #4 in Originality, and #4 Overall! Yay! Thanks to all who gave it a thumbs up!

Since votes have now closed I've gone ahead to make one more update. This includes increasing contrast for better readability, bug fixing, and adding a little epilogue illustration. See devlog for full list.

Hey. The text font is too big for playing on a phone. Maybe you could make it so it is resized based on the device it is played? I can't scroll down enough, from the very first page, to have a choice or the remaining passages/paragraphs appear.

That's curious. I've tested it on a couple mobile devices, and browsers, and it was fine, though an older model was having trouble with it loading. EDIT: Looks like the Edge browser has issues with the css padding that's generated for ink games; if Edge is what you were using then that might be the reason options were cutting off. I've now updated the game so the options should all show up properly! Thanks for the feedback!
